To keep the Indian internet safe, trusted and accountable, SkyServer verifies the identity of every customer using VPS, cloud and server services, as mandated by CERT-In.
eKYC (electronic Know Your Customer) is the process of digitally verifying a customer's identity and address before or shortly after services are activated.
SkyServer Cloud Technologies performs eKYC for customers of its VPS, cloud server, dedicated server and related infrastructure services. This helps us prevent fraud, misuse and cyber attacks originating from our network, and lets us comply with Indian cyber security law.
On 28 April 2022, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, issued Cyber Security Directions under sub-section (6) of Section 70B of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
These directions apply to service providers, intermediaries, data centres, body corporates and government organisations. Among other things, they require Data Centres, Virtual Private Server (VPS) providers, Cloud Service providers and VPN Service providers to register accurate information about their subscribers and customers and to maintain KYC records.
eKYC is required for every account that purchases or renews any of the following:
SkyServer may also request verification for shared, reseller or domain accounts when an order is flagged by our fraud checks or when an abuse complaint is received.
In line with the CERT-In Directions, we collect and verify the following details for each subscriber:
Please upload clear, colour scans or photos of valid, unexpired documents. The name and address must match the details on your SkyServer account.
As required by the CERT-In Directions, KYC information is retained for 5 years or longer as mandated by law, even after the service is cancelled or the account is closed.
Your documents are stored securely with access limited to authorised staff. They are used only for identity verification, fraud prevention and legal compliance, and are shared only with CERT-In or other government authorities when lawfully required. Read our Privacy Policy for more details.
If KYC is not completed, or if the information provided is found to be false, incomplete or mismatched, SkyServer reserves the right to:
Orders cancelled due to failed or incomplete verification are handled as per our Refund Policy.
CERT-In's Cyber Security Directions dated 28.04.2022, issued under Section 70B(6) of the IT Act, 2000, require data centres, VPS providers, cloud service providers and VPN providers to register accurate information about their subscribers and maintain KYC records.
Individuals can submit a PAN card along with an address proof such as Aadhaar (masked), passport, voter ID or driving licence. Businesses can submit the company PAN, GST certificate or certificate of incorporation along with ID proof of the authorised signatory.
Most verifications are completed within a few business hours of receiving clear, valid documents.
As required by the CERT-In Directions, KYC records are retained for five years or longer as mandated by law, even after the service is cancelled or the account is closed.
Have your documents ready and our compliance team will verify your account quickly so your servers stay online without interruption.
